Uiteindelijk heeft alleen de CB 350 Four het levenslicht gezien. Het was in de jaren 70 nog niet mogelijk om een 250cc viercilinder te maken.<\/h4>\r\n<h4>De CB 350 four is het kleine broertje van de CB 750. Deze motor is zowel op de Amerikaanse, als op de Europese markt verschenen. In die tijd was het de kleinste viercilinder motor. Met zijn caf\u00e9-racer look een totaal andere verschijning dan de CB 350. Ook kreeg de CB 400 Four 6 versnelling en was het blok opgeboord naar 408 cc. Een bijzonderheid voor de Cb 400 Four is de uitwendige schakelset met kogelscharnieren voor het overbrengen van de beweging van het schakelpedaal naar de schakelas. introductie van de CB 500 Four, verscheen in 1975 de CB 550 Four. Deze motor kreeg de toevoeging 'supersport' mee. Het blok is een opgeboorde versie van het CB 500 blok. Verder werd deze motor voorzien een een 4-in-1 uitlaatsysteem.\r\nWaarschijnlijk is een achterliggende reden van het verschijnen van deze motor nogal simpel. Suzuki bracht de GT 550 uit. Honda wilde geen klanten verliezen over een verschil van 50 cc.\r\n\r\nDe extra 50cc in het blok leverde wel een vermogenswinst op, die vooral in het middengebied te merken was.\r\n\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cbfourclub.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/cb550.jpg\" alt=\"CB550F\" \/>\r\n\r\n\r\nIn 1976 kwam ook de CB 550 Four K3 op de Europese markt. Deze motor kreeg weer het karakteristieke 4-in-4 uitlaatsysteem mee. Op de Amerikaanse markt was al een CB 550 Four K-versie. Deze had dezelfde tankstriping en uitlaten als de CB 500 Four. >\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"wpsm_panel-body\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h1>Het CB750 prototype<\/h1>\r\nDit is het CB750 prototype verhaal zoals het geschreven is in een Japans motorfiets tijdschrift met foto\u2019s van de motor en de eigenaar Robert Brooks uit Californie USA. Latere informatie suggereert dat dit een modernere replica van het prototype is zoals dat in 1968 langs de dealers van de West kust van Amerika ging. Of dit nu waar is of niet, het verhaal is interessant genoeg om te laten zien. Het kleuren schema ligt dicht bij het later bekend geworden Candy Blue Green. De uitlaten zijn de latere HM300 echter de #4 heeft nog niet de bekende deuk bedoelt als uitsparing voor het rempedaal. Het geheel oogt als een mix tussen het eertse exportmodel (sandcast K0) en het offici\u00eble 1968 prototype.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>De knipperlicht unit is prachtig gepolijst aluminium zonder de letters \u201c TURN\u201d. Bij de latere K0 was hij gespoten.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>De snelheidsmeter geeft een stoere maximale 150Mph weer.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>De remleiding is van staal en komt rechtstreeks uit de rempomp, bij de latere K0 is dit een constructie via een banjo bout. De vorm van de \u201c Kill Switch\u201d ook een beetje anders dan die van de latere K0 en er staat ook geen \u201c On\u201d in het midden.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>De remklauw heeft nog geen horizontale koelvinnen. Ook is de achterkant niet uitgehold om gewicht te besparen, dit is op een ander prototype in 1968 wel gezien.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Ook is er een stuurdemper gemonteerd onder de hoofd framebuis en zoals te zien is op de vele foto\u2019s van het prototype ging het om een staaf demper. De vroege Japanse Multi cilinders zoals de CB en de Z in zijn showroom zijn het bewijs van deze passie.\r\n\r\nHij vond bij toeval een vreemd uitziende CB750Four op een sloperij. De motor was in een slechte conditie en in een uitvoering die hij niet kende.\r\n\r\nMaar toch herkende hij hem van een Japans motor tijdschrift waar een prototype uit 1968 in beschreven stond met de CB450K1 tank.\r\n\r\nToen dit muntje viel was het toch even \u201cHoly sh**\u2026\u2026.\u201d\r\n\r\nDe eigenaar liet niet blijken of hij wel of niet van de geschiedenis van deze motor wist. Enkele bezoeken later kon hij eindelijk het prototype aanschaffen.\r\n\r\nVolgens Brooks is de motor gerestaureerd met 99% originele Honda onderdelen en uiteraard gebruikte hij de onder CB liefhebbers bekende bouten met de 8 op de kop ingeslagen. Ook kleurenschema en andere details zijn in de originele staat hersteld. Het bijzondere aan deze motor is dat hij opgebouwd is met speciale onderdelen voor het prototype en met onderdelen van de latere K0.\r\n\r\nHonda News 28 Juli 1969 schrijft dat Honda begon met de export naar Amerika in april 1969. Andere bronnen zeggen dat het juli 1969 was dat alle Honda dealers in de US gereed waren voor de verkoop van de CB750.\r\n\r\nHet prototype was geregistreerd in juni 1969 terwijl de K0 al in het voorjaar 1969 voor de Japanse pers ten toon gesteld was wat dus betekend dat het model al af was.\r\n\r\nBrooks verondersteld dat zijn motor was gebruikt voor \u201c pre sales\u201d promotie doeleinden bij de dealers, dit baseert hij op eigen onderzoek, de waarheid zal altijd onbekend blijven.\r\n\r\nOmdat dit een belangrijke markt was voor Honda werd het prototype, toen Honda begon met de ontwikkeling van de CB750, ook getest in Amerika.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/cbfourclub.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Prototype4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4319\" title=\"Prototype4\" src=\"http:\/\/cbfourclub.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Prototype4-217x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"217\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cbfourclub.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Prototype4-217x300.jpg 217w, https:\/\/cbfourclub.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Prototype4-220x304.jpg 220w, https:\/\/cbfourclub.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Prototype4.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 217px) 100vw, 217px\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\nCodenaam HM300 de zogenaamde K0 was binnen een jaar ontwikkeld, gedurende dit proces zijn mogelijk diverse prototypes ontstaan en ook weer verdwenen\r\n\r\nWie heeft de motor geregistreerd (op naam gezet)?\r\n\r\nDatum is 16-juni 1969, naam American Honda\r\n\r\nwas het Honda?\r\n\r\nwas het een dealer?\r\n\r\nDe motor heeft in ieder geval een rustig leven gehad in de staat Californi\u00eb.\r\n\r\nRobert Brooks is de derde persoon van rechts op onderstaande foto met de mensen van het tijdschrift die het oorspronkelijke artikel gemaakt hebben.
